On April 13, 2026, the Institute of Philosophy and Law of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences hosted a theoretical seminar entitled "Bioethical dignity of the individual"

Abstract: The speaker examined the significance and principles of bioethics, the key issues in the field of human bioethical dignity, the relationship between ethics and law, the place of the right to bioethical dignity in the human rights system, and the vulnerability of human dignity. Particular attention was paid to works in the field of constitutional law that address fundamental issues in this area. The opinions of scholars studying human dignity, human rights, and bioethics were presented and critically assessed.
A conclusion was reached on the significance of the role of bioethical dignity in the human rights system and for the development of Russian jurisprudence. The need to study biomedical law was emphasized, and the importance of such research for legal science was argued.
The presentation generated considerable and varied interest among the Institute's staff. The speaker answered numerous questions, including those related to the public interest in the use of modern technologies to protect human rights and dignity.
